Our founder, Damon Olsen, grew up in Australia, that great outpost of nature and wildlife, and fishing is in his blood. Particularly sport fishing. Having a highly practical mind and a side of creativity, after graduation he decided to use the knowledge gained through his engineering degree to up the ante on his hobby/passion by raising the quality of the equipment, with particular attention to fishing lures within the tackle industry. Realism was high on his list of attributes needed in a lure, and not just realistic appearance but convincing movement. Tuna and other game fish fancy their chances against bite-sized snacks that appear to be wounded – not an admirable way of thinking, but we’ve all heard of the survival of the fittest, and aggressive humans tend to pick on those who are likely to put up less of a fight. So, in the bluefin tuna’s eyes, if this lure that looks like a fish also looks a bit unsteady on its fins, that makes it easy prey.
