Jigs & Jigging

Eveything you need to know about the Nomad Design range of jigs including the Streaker, Buffalo, Ridgeback and Gypsea jigs and techniques on how to use each one - in each situation.

STREAKER JIGS

The Streaker Jig is a high pitch jig designed to be worked faster. It's perfect for species such as Tuna, Yellowtail, Amberjack and a variety of other species.

The sizes in the Streaker range mean you can fish this in shallow water for reef species like Grouper and Snapper, through to deeper water applications. Watch the video to see why this jig is so unique.

RIDGEBACK JIGS

The Ridgeback jigs were specifically developed as a hybrid Jig which have an angled head design. This head design creates an erratic sideways darting movement at the top of each lift of the rod, and when used slow it will flutter before starting to sink quickly.

Work it fast or slow and it will shoot off to the side giving an darting action both pelagic and bottom feeding fish cannot resist. Watch the video of lure designer Damon Olsen explaining the benefits of this special jig in the Nomad jig range.

BUFFALO JIGS

Nomad Design owner Damon Olsen runs through the features of the Buffalo Jig. A Slow Pitch Jig, or often called a flatfall jig, the Buffalo is centre balanced with a flat side and will fall with a fluttering action, enticing the fish to strike as the lure falls.

It's ideal for sinking through schools of Tuna hanging deep, or using for reef species hanging down deep when worked with long slow flicks of the rod.

GYPSEA JIGS

The Gypsea is a back slide jig designed to be worked at slower to medium speeds. It will dart around and change angle aggressively when twitched and jigged.

The variety of sizes in the Gypsea range means you can fish them in shallow water for Grouper and Snapper, through to deep water for Amberjacks and Tuna. The smaller jigs work very well when "jiggled" just near the bottom for a range of reef species.

JIGGING RODS

Nomad jigging Rods are highly specific and unique looking rods. They use highly evolved, lightweight, and strong blanks, but require a rod with the correct tip stiffness to impart action on the jig in deep water.

JIGGING ACCESSORIES

Jigging Hooks - The best Jigging Hooks come with high quality cord that allows the hook to flutter free yet maintains strength. Nomad uses BKK 5X Hooks with quality solid rings.

Split Rings are an integral part of the Jigging system, connecting the jig to the assist hook via the solid ring.

Split Ring Pliers allow for quick changes of jigs without having to re-tie your mainline as well as general rigging purposes. A handy tool for any jig or lure angler.

Jigging Gloves are an important part of the Jigging process. They provide grip and control over the very thin rods with no foregrip and small reels with big drags. Good Jigging Gloves have strong double stitched leather palms for grip and protection when working with thin braid.
